ANNOUNCEMENTS
| The NC budget is facing a $4.6 billion deficit this year. NC House budget writers are proposing $3.8 billion in cuts over the next two years. Families and individuals with developmental disabilities, mental illness and the disease of addiction throughout North Carolina have already felt the effects of these challenging times. Triumph wants to provide you with information on how to contact your legislators to share with them the importance of continued services. |
|---|
| Cuts can be harmful and don’t necessarily save money: |
-Cuts to services and supports don’t necessarily save money; costs are shifted to other state agencies and crisis systems. - Matching federal or private service dollars must be protected. -Administrative changes must be considered as a potential solution to the budget crisis. -Reducing paperwork and eliminating overlapping regulations saves money. -Cuts to funds in the mental health, developmental disability and substance abuse system must come from other places other than dollars used to provide services. Reducing any services should be temporary. |
Contact your Legislator and share how services and supports are helping you, your family or loved one. Describe how the illness or condition affected your life, what is helping and what would happen if these supports were cut. Legislative contacts can be found at www.ncleg.net |
